It is the belief of Specialized Youth Services of Virginia that all children can successfully reach realistic, targeted academic and behavioral goals; given the right approach.

Our goal is to help youth develop their capacity to reach their goals and become self-sufficient, contributing members of their communities.

A “whole person” approach, which addresses behavioral, cognitive, emotional, physical, and social functioning is utilized to meet the individual development needs of each student.

Since 1991, Specialized Youth Services has provided a continuum of community based services that includes special education day school, regional alternative school, in-home counseling, and day treatment services.

Specialized Youth Services of Virginia, Inc. was established in 1991 to provide educational and treatment services to ED/LD and other at-risk children who cannot be successfully served through their local schools and other public service agencies.

Specialized Youth Services of Virginia, Inc. believes the greatest way to foster a youth’s development is to provide an environment that is safe and secure and recognizes their personal strengths. We believe that when the youth’s basic needs are consistently met and their strengths are recognized and nurtured, the youth will be able to learn new skills to cope with the challenges that brought the youth and their families in for service.
